Commissioned by the local Mini-Museum of Natural History.
Inspired by the brilliant colors of the real Morpho peleides butterfly which lives in tropical forests filled with light and warmth. This piece was painted as an antidote to a bleak, rainy November in central Russia. While the linden trees outside the studio were dissolving into a gray, wet twilight, this canvas was brought to life through imagination, a vibrant palettte and the "magic wands" - as my better half lovingly calls my brushes.
